In this great editoral from the Washinton Times the author discusses Chicago's mayor, Richard Daley, claims that even more strict gun laws are needed to stop the bodies from dropping. 

While he continues ahead with his unconstitutional push to ban firearms in the city other state law makers are requesting that the National Guard be sent in to keep order.

Ever since Chicago instituted the hand gun ban in the 1980's their homicide and crime rates have grown far quicker than other major cities.  In contrast when the Supreme Court struck down the Washington D.C. handgun ban the murder rate dropped 25% the next year.

Despite the writing on the wall Daley and other anti-gun supporters continue to claim that keeping guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens will reduce crime.  As we all hold our breathe waiting for the Supreme Court to declare their stance on the McDonald Chicago gun case let's all hope they have more sense than the Mayor.

I have previously written about the connection between draconian Nazi gun control policy and modern day American gun control efforts.  I was blasted as being an "idiot" and "gun nut" for saying that dictators like Hitler used strict gun laws to disarm their victims before they began their campaigns of genocide.

Yet I came across a great letter send to the editors over at Ammoland.com from a son of Holocaust survivors who notes that if gun control advocates like Mayor Bloomberg continue their efforts they are setting up the American public for more attacks and trouble. 

Terrorists, criminals and others who mean to kill and harm people will not let gun laws get in their way.  Through higher taxes, stricter purchase requirements and tighter registrations these laws only serve to disarm the rest of us by making it harder to own a gun.  For example the people at Ft. Hood, a military base, had to call 911 because no one was armed!

No matter how well intentioned these laws are gun control advocates don't seem to understand there is no relation between gun control policy and crime.  More over by disarming all of us the only people who will have weapons are the government and the criminals.  That's a scary thought my friends!

Gun control isn't the answer;  more responsible, law abiding people armed is though!  Give this lettera read and let your elected officials know how you feel.

Martha strikes me as a pistol grip shotgun kind of gal. . .

But thanks to a 1968 gun control law put in place by the federal government anyone convicted of a felony is not allowed to posses a firearm for the rest of their lives.  So while bank robbers and murders can't ever legally own a gun, white collar criminals and non-violent offenders can't either. 

This means people like our dear Martha, who pled guilty to a list of felonies surrounding a stock trade, have been stripped of their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.  Yes, it makes sense that those who used a gun to commit their crimes or who committed violent crimes should forfeit this right.  But not every felon.

Think about a kid who busts a mailbox, a guy who cheats on his taxes, a college kid illegally downloading songs from the Internet and the million of other possibilities.  Do these people deserve to lose one of our most fundamental rights?

Can you imagine the government telling you that because you're a felon you don't have the right to free speech?  No, not at all.  Yet somehow we accept this law!

When you combine this law with the War on Drugs, which just happened to emerge about the same time, it seems as though the government has found a way to systematically create a huge number of felons and then strip them of their rights.  Our prisons are filled with non-violent offenders who are only there because they engaged in the use or sale of a narcotic.  When this population is released they are treated as second class citizens and the government makes sure they are never whole again.

Sadly, our gun control policy in this country is controlled by a fear mongering media and politicians who care more about sound bites than actual results.  Even though there has never been a proven link between a strict gun control policy and lower crime our leaders push these draconian laws on us to say they are "tough on crime". 

All the while some of the country's biggest contributors to these politicians campaigns are prison guard unions and police organizations.  They know they must grease the wheels to keep these insane laws on the books and create job security at the cost of our society's health.

With the Supreme Court's ruling in the Heller case last year though this all may be changing.  Other laws baring criminals from owning guns are being challenged and it seems as though there might be a hope for sanity from the halls of the high court.

As the Nazi's stormed through Europe and put the continent under the boots of oppression and tyranny they knew they had to control the firearms of the population.  Hitler once said:

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing."  

In order to achieve this the Nazi party implemented a strict gun control policy in 1938.  The laws stated that: 

• Citizens had to apply for permission to buy a firearm and submit to a back ground check
• Nazis had the power to decide who got a gun and what kind of guns could be owned
• Ammunition would be controlled by the government
• Jews were not allowed to own firearms
• All Jews and other unlicensed owners must turn in their weapons to the Nazis

With previous gun control policies creating national gun registries the Nazis knew who owned guns.  Often even if you turned them in to be a law abiding citizen you were arrested on sight for breaking the law!

Does any of this sound familiar?!

It is clear that the first move of the oppressor must be to force or convince gun owners to give up their guns.  They come in the disguise of safety and crime prevention but mean only to have a  monopoly on power!

We must learn the lessons of the past if we don't want them repeated!

Seriously though, she talks about how gun control policy is just one mechanism for those looking to rob us of other rights to get what they want!  She's not even a gun owner and she gets it!

Gun control policy is a hot topic in our society today.  As a society we have become indoctrinated by the media and government to think that the looser gun laws are the more crime there will be.  They claim that if we want to put an end to crime we should tighten down on gun owners, making it harder to buy, own and use a gun.

The exact opposite is true.  Check out this awesome video from 20/20 about the biggest myths in our culture.  For once someone from the media who isn't towing the party line!

Criminals don't care about gun laws!  Only honest citizens are affected by them.  If a murderer or rapist wants to get a gun to further his criminal goals he's not going to let some pesky statute in the state law get in his way.

By using strict gun control policy to buckle down on gun owners all the government is doing is disarming the people and turning us all into sheep.
